✨Description
China Dialogue is seeking a part-time consultant to join our strategic climate communications team in Beijing. The ideal candidate would be with a thorough knowledge and understanding of climate change, the energy sector, as well as policy making and the media landscape.
He or she would be proactive, highly organised and self-motivated, with relevant professional experience paired with excellent writing and verbal communications skills, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in their work.

China Dialogue disseminates high-quality information and promotes communication on environment and climate change in both Chinese and English. We provide a space for open discussion, to inform and to contribute to equitable and constructive solutions to global environmental problems.
✨About the role This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to better public communications on the climate issue within China and globally. The individual will work closely with global colleagues to conceive, plan and execute exciting communications work based on solid, active monitoring and analysis of discussions and debates that are happening in the field.
✨ Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of previous work experience (experience in environmental/energy journalism, energy research, or climate advocacy will be a plus)
- Knowledge and understanding of climate change, the numerous international fora and processes, and the energy sector;
- Knowledge and understanding of Chinese/international media and policy making;
- Existing contacts with high tier Chinese will be a plus; pro-active outreach for new contacts will be required;
- Experience of working in campaign/strategic communications;
- Strong project management and problem solving skills;
- Ability to work independently;
- Native-level Chinese language skills and strong English skills.
✨Main responsibilities
- Develop and deploy communications packages, in collaboration with other stakeholders, that can be delivered domestically and/or globally;
- Support the team’s efforts to pitch climate and energy stories, leads and topics;
- Work with China Dialogue colleagues, journalists and other stakeholders to co-develop strategically relevant stories on climate change;
- Provide communications advice and support to key national partners and the global network;
