Conservation Scientist x 2
YOUR POSITION WITH TNC The Conservation Scientist provides technical and scientific support for conservation initiatives in Conservation by Design (CbD) and Measures of Conservation Success (MOS).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Conservation Scientist collects and manages necessary ecological and socio-economic data for systematic conservation planning. They prioritize conservation areas and actions, and provide strategic guidance and technical leadership for conservation initiatives. The Conservation Scientist designs and conducts scientific research, records and analyzes data, writes reports and develops proposals in order to administer and coordinate conservation programs within a conservation or business unit.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE • Provide technical and scientific support in the project planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation, with a focus on applications and innovations on methodology, modelling tools, data analysis and report writing. • Design, manage and oversee scientific projects and coordinate the work of other professionals within and outside the organization. • Perform fieldwork including ecosystem assessment and field monitoring. • Deliver tools, biodiversity data, field services and training to staff and partners. • Conduct literature reviews, summarize case studies and best practices, develop standards, guidance and training materials that can be applied in Chinese context. • Publish peer reviewed scientific papers and books/guidelines. • May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, in hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Master's Degree in science related field and 3 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Experience in collecting, manipulating, analyzing and interpreting scientific data. • Experience in preparing reports of findings.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Knowledge and working experiences in nature conservation, wildlife management, and/or natural climate solutions. • Record of peer reviewed publications in scientific journals. • Experience working and communicating with a wide range of people. • Physical ability to perform filed work. • Ability to travel frequently and work in isolated environment. • Proven negotiation skills. • Experiences in designing and delivering training courses. • Multi-language skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated. • Strong knowledge of computer technology and common software applications. • Attention to detail. • Ability to meet deadlines.

Development Program Senior Manager x 1
YOUR POSITION WITH TNC The Development Program Senior Manager will apply their skills to a functional team of organizational priority within a development program. The team will be responsible for providing resources such as research, gift processing, prospect tracking, stewardship, etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Development Program Senior Manager will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the team by developing and implementing tactics for approved plans, and completing and organizing multiple tasks and activities. They will identify individual priorities based on the needs of the program. They will manage, track, and report on key data related to the team scope and priorities. The Senior Manager will perform independent analysis of key program data, which may include donor or gift information. They may be responsible for processing gifts. They will provide recommendations and targeted training related to the functional area of the team. The Senior Manager must have advanced knowledge of the systems and resources utilized by the team in order to provide programmatic support and coordinate communications related to the resources. They will have substantial contact with stakeholders and may serve as the lead liaison with partners. They take on additional duties to enhance the work of the team, such duties may include, but are not limited to, a more significant role in training, developing documentation, and/or enhancing the systems and tools used by the team. The Development Program Senior Manager will keep up-to-date on market trends and best practices in order to improve services. They will adapt processes and implement recommended practices in order to improve effectiveness based on their in-depth understanding of related policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE • Act independently within broad program goals to prioritize tasks in the absence of specific instructions and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems. • Does not supervise any staff but may manage work of peers on departmental project teams. • Ensure compliance with TNC policies and procedures, and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements. • Financial responsibility includes working within a budget, processing invoices and transfers, and negotiating and contracting with vendors. • Be in charge of managing the development system, including updating data and running reports. • Produce the monthly report of the Strategy Development function of TNC China program. • Be liaison with other business units and regional office of TNC. • May manage accounts or client relationship based on the requirement. • Manage projects with several variables, set realistic deadlines, manage a timeline, and ensure accountability. • May provide oversight for a key function of the team. • Provide input through project teams for the development and implementation of new initiatives or the improvement of existing programs. • Travel and work overtime as needed. • Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain. • Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines. • Work within scope of program’s strategic goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination. • Experience generating reports, and analyzing and interpreting data. • Experience working across departments. • Experience with current technology in relevant field.
• Experience, coursework, or other training in principles and practices of relevant field.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience are appreciated. • Good communication skills in both of English and Chinese. • Ability to implement complex processes. • Ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results. • Demonstrated experience using diplomacy and tact to build strong relationships and motivate staff. • Experience coordinating projects. • Experience interpreting guidelines to achieve desired results. • Experience with database management. • Knowledge of current trends in the specific field. • Strong organization skills, accuracy, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks. • Successful experience implementing strategic program goals. • Understanding of basic accounting practices. • Mature and willing to support others.
