（六）大事书之於策，小事简牍而已。1.既言尊卑皆有史官，又论所记简策之异。2.简、札、牍、毕，同物而异名。一行用简，数行用方（牍），方所不容者用策（策的异体字是册）3.六经的策长二尺四寸，汉代天子策书长二尺。蔡邕《独断》：“策者，简也。其制，长二尺，短者半之。”《钩命决》：“《春秋》二尺四寸书之。”4. 大事和小事的区别（1）大事：君举告庙及邻国赴告，如《春秋》记载的内容。大事先写在简上，之后定在策上。（2）小事：物不为灾及言语文辞，如《左传》记载的内容。小事文辞过多，则写在简牍上保存。用大事和小事来区分春秋经和传，更加清晰了。（七）《孟子》曰：楚谓之《梼杌》táo wù，晋谓之《乘》，而鲁谓之《春秋》，其实一也。1.既言简、策之异，又说诸国别名。2.楚国的史书为什么叫做梼杌，有争议。3.为什么晋、楚的史书要私立别号？孔颖达推测的原因是鲁国史法最备，晋楚可能自己比较羞愧，所以别立恶名。（八）韩宣子適鲁，见《易·象》与《鲁春秋》，曰：“周礼尽在鲁矣，吾乃今知周公之德与周之所以王”。1.既言诸国有书，欲明鲁最兼备。2.《周易》的作者争议。{孔：郑玄案，据此文，以为《易》是文王所作。郑众、贾逵、虞翻、陆绩之徒，以《易》有“箕子之明夷”、“东邻杀牛”，皆以为《易》之爻辞周公所作。杜虽无明解，似同郑说。}（九）韩子所见，盖周之旧典礼经也。1.{孔：韩子之言，并叹《易·象》，此之所见，唯谓《春秋》者，指说《春秋》，不须《易·象》故也。}孔颖达认为韩宣子说的话与《易·象》没有关系，因此说“不须《易·象》故也”。所以可以进一步看《易·象》和周礼之间的关系是什么。2.周公时关于礼仪有定制。{孔：韩子所见《鲁春秋》者，盖是周之旧日正典、礼之大经。}孔颖达从隐公七年“书名”例云“谓之礼经”，十一年“不告”例云“不书于策”，推断出孔子未修《春秋》之前，已经有礼制了，进而推断出制礼作乐是周公所为。孔颖达同意韩宣子的看法。（十）周德既衰，官失其守。上之人不能使《春秋》昭明，赴告策书，诸所记注，多违旧章。1.此明仲尼脩《春秋》之由，先论史策失宜之意。2.{孔：虽广言众官失职，要其本意是言史官失其所掌也。}3.赴告（赴，同讣）。{孔：邻国相命，凶事谓之赴，他事谓之告，对文则别，散文则通。}4.违反礼制的赴告：（1）赴、告相混。（2）赴的日期错了。（3）不同盟者赴以名。（4）同盟者赴不以名。（十一）仲尼因鲁史策书成文，考其真伪，而志其典礼，上以遵周公之遗制，下以明将来之法。1.此明仲尼所因并制作之意。2.“考”和“志”的区别。{孔：“考”谓校勘，“志”谓记识。考其真伪，真者因之，伪者改之。志其典礼，合典法者褒之，违礼度者贬之。}（十二）其教之所存，文之所害，则刊而正之，以示劝戒。1.此说仲尼改旧史之意。（十三）其馀则皆即用旧史，史有文质，辞有详略，不必改也。1.此说仲尼不改旧史之意。2.{孔：“史有文质”，谓居官之人。“辞有详略”，谓书策之文。}3.仲尼不改旧史的部分，因史旧有详略，立文乖异，所以不存义例。{孔：螟螽蜚蜮，皆害物之蟲，蜚蜮言有，螟螽不言有；诸侯反国，或言自某归，或言归自某；晋伐鲜虞，吴入郢，直举国名，不言将帅；及郊与川郊皆无所发；诸侯出奔，或名，或不名。}（十四）故传曰：“其善志。”又曰：“非圣人孰能脩之？”　盖周公之志，仲尼从而明之。1.{孔：下传既非同年，而云“又”者，言又重上事之辞，止又其传，非又其年也。}“止又其传”是什么意思？这句话整体是说这两处引用并不是同年的，称“又”是因为上下文的问题。“止”应该是“只”、“仅”的意思。 叙此以上论经，以下论传。（十五）左丘明受经於仲尼，以为经者不刊之书也，故传或先经以始事，或后经以终义，或依经以辩理，或错经以合异，随义而发。1.此说作传解经而传文不同之意2. {孔：假使传有先后，不畏经因错乱}“不畏经因错乱”是什么意思？按照上下文推测是经和传的写作动机不同，传是为了“释尽经义”，因此传和经在叙述事情上先后可能有差。3. {孔：先经以始事，后经以终义。}4. {孔：错经者，若地有两名，经传互举，及经“侵”传“伐”，经“伐”传“侵”，於文虽异，於理则合。}“若地”是“如果有的地方”的意思吗？（十六）其例之所重，旧史遗文，略不尽举，非圣人所脩之要故也。1.此说有经无传之意。（十七）身为国史，躬览载籍，必广记而备言之。其文缓，其旨远，将令学者原始要终，寻其枝叶，究其所穷。1.此说无经有传之意。2.{孔：将令学者本原其事之始，要截其事之终，寻其枝叶，尽其根本，则圣人之趣虽远，其赜可得而见。是故经无其事，而传亦言之，为此也。}这句说的还挺好。（十八）优而柔之，使自求之；餍而饫之，使自趋之。若江海之浸，膏泽之润，涣然冰释，怡然理顺。然后为得也。1.无经之传是有帮助的。2.{孔：其“餍而饫之”，则未知所出。}
